The Story Behind Blue Leaf Guide
Blue Leaf Guide began as a book—born from real conversations with cosmetology and barber students.
While traveling to schools as a guest artist, I kept hearing the same concerns from future professionals: they were learning the technical skills, but they didn’t feel prepared for the business side of the industry. Questions about building clientele, branding, choosing the right salon, and long-term career direction kept coming up again and again. So I started listening. I took notes. I collected their questions, challenges, and goals—and turned that data into a book designed to fill the gap.
Shortly after writing it, my journey took an unexpected turn. I was diagnosed with breast cancer, which forced me to pause promoting the book. Just as I was ready to move forward again, COVID hit. At that point, I felt uncertain about whether the book would ever truly reach the people it was created for.
Then I had a realization: it needed to be digital.
I transformed the book into a PDF and took my first booth at a national beauty conference. The response was incredible—but I still felt it wasn’t enough. I wanted something more secure, more interactive, and more powerful for students. That’s when I made the decision to turn Blue Leaf Guide into an app.
When I discovered how expensive app development was, I chose a different path—I went back to school and learned IT myself. Balancing school, motherhood, salon ownership, and life wasn’t easy, but I committed to the process for an entire year. Eventually, I partnered with a local IT company to help bring the vision across the finish line.
Today, Blue Leaf Guide is the first career-focused cosmetology and barbering app built specifically for student success. It helps future professionals build their brand, grow clientele, clarify their career path, and confidently transition from student to working professional—whether their goal is commission, booth rental, or salon ownership.
What started as a book is now a complete system—and I’m honored to finally share it.
